The 4 Archetypes of Misbehavior

Workshop Title: The 4 Archetypes of Misbehavior: Targeted Strategies for Parents, Educators & Counselors.


Goal of this Workshop:   The 4 Archetypes of Misbehavior hale from Adlerian theory whichsuggests that all behavior is goal oriented. This workshop looks at the goals ofmisbehavior, using archetypes that participants will easily understand.The workshop will be interactive, engaging and informative. Participantswill walk away with a better understanding of misbehavior and specific tools onhow to reduce disruptive behavior and have a more peaceful environment.  Participants will learn the motivation for the 4 different types of misbehavior and how to intervene with each type.


The 4 Archetypes of Misbehavior are:

  • Attention Seeking

  • Power

  • Revenge

  • Inadequacy


Each of these behaviors presents a specific and unique challenge to participants.  This workshop will explain the motivation of each behavior, what not to do and what works in reducing this behavior. Participants will have an opportunity to role play each of the strategies and customize them to fit their particular situation.


Learning Objectives:  Participants will:

  • Learn identifying characteristics of each goal of misbehavior

  • Learn strategies to reduce each type of misbehavior


Anticipated Outcomes: Participants will learn 3 research based tools to reduce disruptive behavior.
